About Third-Party

Last updated: June 5, 2024

Third-party EO and SAR imagery is provided to Maxar from other commercial data providers (CDPs) through NGA. CDPs include BlackSky, Planet SkySat, Capella, ICEYE, and Umbra.

BlackSky

The BlackSky constellation of microsatellites has a spatial resolution of 1 m at an altitude of 500 km, with an aperture of 0.24 m and frames of 30 sq km. The sensor is capable of three visible (RGB) bands and one panchromatic band. BlackSky is EO imagery.

Planet SkySat

A SkySat Scene Product is an individual framed scene within a strip, captured by the satellite in its line-scan of the Earth. SkySat satellites have three cameras per satellite, which capture three overlapping strips. Each of these strips contain overlapping scenes, not organized to any particular tiling grid system. A SkySat Collect Product is created by composing roughly 60 SkySat Scenes along an imaging strip into an orthorectified segment, approximately 20 x 5.9 square kilometers in size. SkySat is EO imagery.

Capella

Capella Space uses Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) to capture and track small-scale movements on the surface of the Earth—at ports and along pipelines, in fields and on the high seas, anywhere change is occurring—and provide this data in the form you need to gain an edge. Each Capella satellite carries an X-band, single-frequency radar capable of acquiring Spotlight, Sliding Spotlight, and Stripmap images.

ICEYE

The ICEYE sensors are X-band radars, each with an active phased array antenna and electronic beam steering. The innate mechanical agility of these low-mass satellites and their electronic steering enable fast and precise pointing of radar pulses to the ground. The satellites can also image to the right or left side of the satellite track. ICEYE’s constellation of small and agile SAR satellites can revisit the same location in space daily and even sub-daily, enabling a level of change detection that’s never been possible before.

Umbra

Umbra's satellite is designed for high-bandwidth, high-throughput imaging. Umbra satellites generate the highest resolution SAR imagery ever offered commercially from space. SAR satellites can capture images at night, through cloud cover, smoke, and rain. SAR is unique in its abilities to monitor changes.
